It has been a little while since we saw anything form Genius, but the manufacturer that surprisingly won our wireless keyboard and mouse group test early last year is back.

The wireless TwinTouch 19eNB keyboard and mouse package is a typical Genius offering. The styling remains traditionally minimalist and you get a straightforward AA battery pack and separate charger rather than the alternative of a more advanced, but potentially more troublesome built-in battery and holster. Like it did with the more literally named “Wireless Optical Office Kit” in our group test, Genius is generous enough to supply six AA rechargeable batteries: two for the keyboard, two for the mouse and two more for the charger ensuring a continuous power supply.

As for the layout, the new TwinTouch wireless keyboard has a flatter design than previous models and this ties in with current thinking which dictates that a lower angle means less wrist and finger strain over long periods. 19 programmable hot keys for multimedia, websites and so on also suggests you shouldn’t be short of options. Meanwhile, the matching mouse has an 800dpi optical sensor which guarantees some precise control and Genius claims it reads off a surface so well that it doesn’t require a dedicated mouse pad (though I wouldn’t recommend using any infrared or laser mice on reflective tops, bad idea).

No separate power source is required to run the Twintouch combo, just a single USB port. Software compatibility goes as far back as Windows 98, though there is no Mac support. Available now (from CCL Computers amongst others) for a typically valued based £39.99, past experience tells us you could do a lot worse than check it out.
