Indeed, the noisy fans are a shame. However, the Cute does have optical audio out, hence:
"both digital (co-axial and optical) and analogue audio outputs" (page2). You can also see these in the picture.

I purchased one of these a couple of weeks ago. The worst noise is from the PSU which I replaced with a silent one, a 150W PicoPSU which works like a charm. That also has the added benefit of a cooler case. I also disconnected the M/B fan which seems surplus to requirements with the cooler case (it was also very quiet). It's now quiet enough as a Media Centre PC and I'm happy with it. The black case is great and doesn't look cheap as you said in the review.

Performance and build quality say it's Mesh computers Ltd and so stay clear.

Since I got older and lazy and can no longer be bothered to build my PCs I've had a couple of barebones desktops from Mesh and have always been happy with them and the service obtained. I need a media PC for the front room and was considering one of these (in black of course) but am now rather put off by the points regarding the noisy fans. I'd also like an optical audio out to the AV amp.. Perhaps this isn't the choice for me after all, shame considering the attractive price point...
