Is it my imagination, or have we seen this review before?

Hmmmm....
My laptop with a 1GHz Core Solo and 1GB RAM running Windows XP happily runs with Avast anti-virus, and I can transcode video in an acceptable time.
Can you explain how the Eee Box is brought to a halt, when the Atom is supposed to be equally as powerful as the Core Solo?
Maybe I'm not expecting Quad Core Extreme performance from platforms that are obviously not intended for it.

Thanks alex, looks a bit expensive.

@Russell

I believe this is just a video review that has been attached to something written previously.

love this pc! and of course for any of us computer geeks the specs look sh*t, but hey for 200 quid, stuck one in your son's bedroom! sex education can start really early...

As well as the DVD player writer they should add freeview+ and a remote control - then we are in very cool territory.

''The only downside - and this is a big one for some - is that it does not have an optical drive, so forget about playing CDs or DVDs''

...Forgive me if i'm being stupid, but can't you still play/copy dvds/cds via an external usb drive? Means forking out bit more cash i know.

I'm waiting for the Linux version to come out... 2GB Ram and 160GB Hard drive all for same price as the windows one!

@soundcircus

Well yes, you could use a USB CD drive to install stuff but to have one attached all the time so you could play a DVD movie or music CD would be a waste of getting such a small PC in the first place.

So you state that you can't run anti-virus on it (which, to be blunt, is a lie - of COURSE you can run anti-virus, but it will just make the system very slow).
If only, if only, an Operating System existed that didnt need anti-virus to function effectively....
