MSI's successor - spiritually, at least, if not literally - to the Wind PC launched last year looks to be a much more interesting system. It's still powered by an Atom processor, but the periphery components and chassis have been jazzed up somewhat.

The DE200 is available in black, red, blue and white; the first improvement over the debut Wind nettop. Inside there's a 1.6GHz Atom N230 CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. An AMD ATI Radeon 4350 should take care of any graphics-based application not too intense for the Atom CPU, as well as offering video-decoding and running other ATI Stream GPU-accelerated applications and providing VGA and HDMI outputs.

Draft-N wireless also makes a showing and, unsurprisingly, Windows XP is MSI's chosen operating system for the DE200. No pricing or release information, but with Asus' B208 offering the same graphics chip and a dual-core Atom processor it's obviously going to need to be cheaper. Assuming, of course, that the Wind Box DE200 even sees a UK launch at all.
