The rumours of a Celeron-powered Eee Box were true. The Eee Box B203, as it is called, is now up on Asus' site and presumably, thus, to be available in shops forthwith.

Though the Celeron C220 CPU used is less power efficient than the 1.6GHz Atom previously used and clocked slower at 1.2GHz it should actually run faster. Other than that CPU change things are the same there's 80GB, 120GB and 160GB hard drive options (not that all of these will necessarily be available in the UK), 2GB of RAM and Windows XP Home.

Draft-N wireless, Ethernet and DVI connectivity are also still featured, as is the Eee Box's ability to be attached to a VESA mount-fitted monitor. Pricing and availability is, as yet, unknown. Prior rumour had the new Celeron-powered Eee sitting some £30 under the Atom equivalent, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm more interested in an dedicated GPU-sporting Eee Box, though.
