I must warn you, before looking at the details of these PCs supplied by Japanese company Zeus, be prepared to have your jaw hit the ground in astonishment. The premise is simple: take a fairly run of the mill PC and place it in a case made either of gold or platinum and encrusted by diamonds too - quite.

Obviously the PC inside isn't to badly specified, but given the exterior we would really expect something a bit more, well, impressive really. Processing power is provided by a 3GHz Core 2 Duo E6850, 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM is on board and the motherboard of choice is an micro-ATX Asus P5KPL - noteworthy because it indicates the small form factor of the systems.

Elsewhere we find a 1TB hard drive (a nice touch), an nVidia 8400 GS (so no games) and an LG hybrid HD DVD/Blu-ray drive. For the user likely to have such a lavish system, the lowish specs by my gamer standards really shouldn't be a problem - Office 2007 may be pretty, but it doesn't need much graphics grunt.

Zeus also ships the Mars (gold) and Jupiter (platinum) systems with a 24in monitor of unspecified brand, personally I'd prefer a pair of 30in screens for maximum display of affluence, but beggars can't be choosers. The biggest chink in these PCs' armour is the absolutely ludicrous price tags attached: ¥80m (£3.75k) and ¥60m (£2.83k) for the Jupiter and Mars respectively. If you're the kind of person able to afford such a system your butler is probably reading this on your behalf, so be so good as to inform your employer, Jeeves, my good man.
