Asus may currently still be riding the Eee PC wave, but that doesn't mean the company can't try its hand at the desktop PC game. For a company traditionally associated with notebooks and components, this effort looks pretty darned good too, at least on paper with its svelte styling and form factor.

There only seems to be one possible comparison, namely Apple's Mac Mini, and while Cupertino may still keep the advantage on aesthetics and OS, Asus takes the win on components. Processing power is provided by a 1.86GHz E6320 Core 2, which is a desktop part, 1GB RAM is included and there is a slot loading DVD drive - a small detail but always a winner in my book. Elsewhere specs are a bit sparse, although we do know that Bluetooth is on board and that the system will run Vista, courtesy of the image above.

The Nova also comes loaded out for use as a multimedia system, presumably intended to sit under a TV, and on that basis we'd expect it to use Intel's G35 chipset, offering as it does fairly decent video and audio decoding without requiring discrete graphics or sound cards. At the moment you'll have to live in Taiwan to get your hands on a Nova P22, for the equivalent of about £500, but we'd hope to see it traverse the globe to the UK. I can't think of many systems that would look better under a TV for a similar price.
