Last week we saw an Intel based HTPC barebone machine from Shuttle and now it’s the turn of AMD. Built upon nVidia’s 630a chipset with GeForce 7025 integrated graphics, the Shuttle Glamour series SN68SG2 (hereafter simply the Glamour) features 8-chanel HD audio, HDCP-compliant DVI (no HDMI) and offers both a single x16 PCI-E and PCI slot for expansion.

Support for all Athlon 64, X2 and Semprons is in, and these can be supplemented by a maximum 4GB of 800MHz DDR2 RAM. Power comes from a 250W Shuttle PSU, and the now ubiquitous proprietary ICE2 cooling system prevails throughout. Styling appears to be up to Shuttle’s usual standards – black brushed metal will (probably) never go out of style. Also of note is the inclusion of a pair of e-SATA ports at the rear, which is useful if you find the small size of a Shuttle case limiting the amount of hard drive capacity available to you.

Available from August the Glamour will set you back a paltry €189 plus tax, or about £160 including tax.
