While Sony certainly makes a number of powerful computers it tends to be known more for its style than its brute force, but what if the two combined...?

With the launch of the 'Vaio RM1N Ultimate HD Workstation' the company has produced its most powerful machine to date and, in a radical departure from the norms of desktop design, split it into two parts!

Flexibility is the reasoning behind the decision with the RM1N divided up into a primary chassis (complete with motherboard and major components) for storing out of the way while the secondary unit houses the optical drives and can be sat conveniently under a monitor or nearby. Clever stuff, but what about that horsepower?

To this end the RM1N will surprise too since it features a grease lightening Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 1TB (2 x 500GB 7,200rpm) SATA RAID 0 array storage, an nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card with 527MB of total available memory (256MB dedicated), a dual layer Blu-ray drive, DVD rewriter, 10/1000 Ethernet and last (and probably least) a copy of Windows Vista Business.

If (somehow) this spec isn't enough, the RM1N is also highly expandable with the system unit having room for four additional hard drives, three open PCI-e slots and it sports no less than 10 USB ports. The RM1N's RRP has been set at £2,500 (monitor not included) and it should touch down before the end of the month.

Note: If you complain about the price you can't afford it...
