So Microsoft Windows Vista is finally here… well, yes and no.

For - as I’m sure you’re all aware – 30 November may mark the official day Bill Gate’s last ever operating system is released, but it only matters if you happen to be a large business and your name is Lenovo, Vodafone, Ford, British Telecom or some such and no matter how geeky you may be a trip to the dipole office is just not worth it.

Instead my humble minions our day of celebration/security nightmares will begin on 30 January and in a way it will be nice for the hackers to wear themselves out battering the resources of British Aerospace rather than Joe Public of Terrified Terrace.

As I have mentioned before numerous versions of Vista will launch today across the globe (around 15 I do believe) but ‘Home Basic’, ‘Home Premium’, ‘Business’ and ‘Ultimate’ are set to dominate the market. The Beast of Redmond is also throwing a big bash for big business tonight but since we don’t inform you about gross revenue, profit, loss and share values (lucky you/lucky us) we aren’t invited.

So instead we shall all collectively thumb our noses at Microsoft today and declare “We Don’t Care!” (even though we really do). The more mischievous among you will not doubt spend the day trawling your favourite torrent sites while the rest are in for a two month wait.

30 January 2007 here we come!
