When it comes to building sexy PCs there are few better in the business than (we’ve-designed-for-Apple) Asus. Here is another textbook example why.

The Asteio D22 DAV Media Center is a stunning piece of minimalist styling that is chocked full of horsepower and connectivity. A Core 2 Duo 6300 CPU is at its heart along with a gig of DD2 533MHz RAM, a passively cooled nVidia 7600GS graphics card to keep things fast and quiet, a 250GB hard drive and 16x dual layer DVD writer.

Despite these elements however it is the connectivity where this unit really shines with HDMI (with HDCP encryption), Component, DVI, D-Sub, SCART, S-Video and Composite ports complimented by WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet, 4x USB2.0, FireWire, 7.1 Channel DTS Digital Audio Out and a 13-in-1 card reader.

The whole unit also runs at a could-hear-a-pin-drop 26dB, is Viiv compliant and has full 1080p High Def Output along with its own Intelligent EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) and dual channel digital TV tuner so you can record one programme while simultaneously watching another. Finally an RF 2.4GHz keyboard, mouse and remote control are supplied out of the box.

We don’t have a price or date attached to the Asteio D22 as yet but expect it to arrive in time to fill some particularly rectangular shaped Christmas stockings.
