Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs aren’t quite the hot thing they were 18 months ago but there’s no denying that Shuttle still makes the sexiest of them all...

Its latest and possibly greatest is the swanky SD32G2 which is based on the Intel 945G chipset meaning it will support Intel’s much heralded Core 2 Duo processors as well as Pentium D, Pentium 4 and Celeron D.

The design is typically Shuttle: metallic and minimalist yet the spec is anything but bare with all the trappings you’d expect to find on a high end PC. There’s a PCI Express x16 slot for top end graphics, eight channel integrated sound, Gigabit LAN, capacity for up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM and no less than six USB2.0 ports. A 250W SilentX PSU should also keep operational noise to a minimum.

The SD32G2 is available from the end of this month for a reassuringly expensive Shuttle-esque 265 euros plus VAT however the company’s recommended system (E6300 CPU, 1GB RAM, Radeon X1900XT, 300GB HDD, DVD writer, 22-in-1 card reader and two year warranty) is better value at 1,135 euros plus VAT.

So once again the quest is on to create a living room that looks good enough to house your PC… how times change.
