It has been three months since Dell announced its first AMD based machine. That was a high end Opteron server but now consumer notebooks are not far away.

The reports was confirmed by intrepid news site DailyTech after it managed to squeeze a ‘yes’ from a Dell executive who wished to remain anonymous. The lip flapping suit is quoted as saying, “This is not a big deal. In order to remain competitive, we have to make sure that we have enough variety of products to meet the market demand." Someone needs to tell him/her that Dell finally launching AMD products to the public after literally years of speculation is indeed a pretty darn big deal.

DT also managed to put the heavy on AMD, which rolled out KJ Chou the company’s GM of Taiwanese Operations. He was coy but similarly broke down when DailyTech’s Brandon Hill whipped out the thumbscrews and admitted “This is a sensitive topic, though we won't deny the fact that we are working with Dell on desktop and notebook PCs.” One half twist later he screamed, “Consumers will be able to buy AMD-based computers from Dell by the end of the year" and passed out.

October is the month Hill himself is quoting for the first AMD equipped Dell 15.4in widescreen notebooks and – since I’m not in any mood to be tortured – you’ll not hear a dissenting voice from me.
