Google Video Launches In UK

A big hit since it launched Stateside, Google Video has entered our waters.

‘Google Video UK’ is initially in beta but runs a full service automatically filtering results to give media from our Isles search priority. The site works in a similar manner to current IT golden boy YouTube allowing users to instantly upload and share video content. No limit is put on the size of file that can be uploaded while it also enables users to link directly to videos through forums and blogs.
The only perquisite is a Google email account and AVI, Mpeg, Quicktime, Real and Windows Media formats are all accepted. Simply enter a file location, title, description, genre and language and you’re done. Google does warn users not to post copyrighted or obscene material but that hasn’t stopped fat cats from the movie and music industry fretting about piracy.
All uploaded videos can be rated by viewers and join a searchable database. My personal favourites include Hamster Wheel Gone Wrong and The Coolest Dog Ever while this is rather special. On the other hand I’m not so keen on Spode’s nude limbo dancing so I’ll hold back on the link… ;)
