Everybody knows that UK company AJP makes extremely good value price/performance notebooks, but what not so many realise is it produces a darn nice multimedia PC too.

Now completely redesigned and overhauled, the new Neo64 looks a quality lifestyle machine. Barely thicker (49 x 34 x 16cm) and heavier (9.65Kg) than a standard TFT television, the new model features a 17in display with 1280 x 768 native resolution and gloss finish. As with all multimedia models, there is a built in TV tuner allowing you to watch, pause and rewind live TV and even connect to Sky. Real couch potatoes will also be able to view DVDs and television or PC applications simultaneously while controlling everything from the couch using the supplied remote control and matching wireless keyboard and mouse.

Under the bonnet, the Neo 64 sports a powerful configuration that belies its slim lines. It comes with a standard Athlon 64 3400+ processor (upgradeable to 4000+), 1GB DDR RAM (max 2GB), a large 250GB 7,200RPM hard drive, dual layer DVD rewriter, 1.3 megapixel camera and it even makes space for four speakers with no less than two built in sub woofers.

Connectivity options are numerous too with integrated wireless g, Ethernet, fax/modem, a 4-in-1 card reader, five USB2.0 ports, Firewire, SP/DIF output, TV Out and TV and DVI inputs. Warranty is a generous 36 months and Windows Media Centre 2005 is obviously a key option. Prices start from a highly reasonable £899 plus VAT and I what a cracking Chrimbo gift it would make for someone you love.

You love me, right? :)
