Shuttle Lifts Off For Pentium D

Finding hot new Shuttle designs is like finding beautiful girls in Eastern Europe: easy, but getting one is not as cheap as you’d like to believe. That doesn’t stop us gawking though.

The XPC SD31P completes the company range because it supports Intel’s Pentium D dual core chips via the installed 945G Express chipset (AMD X2s already work with the XPC SN25P). It also comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect with a modern, high end SFF case: SATA II, 1066MHz FSB, PCI Express slot, DDR2 compatibility, 10/1000 Ethernet, FireWire, USB2.0, RAID (0+1), 8-in1 card reader, etc etc.

On top of this integrated audio should be a step above what we’re used to because of a new partnership with Creative Labs to build in the Sound Blaster Live! 24bit. For non gamers Intel’s Graphics Media Accelerator 950 should do the job around Windows. Dimensions remain small at 32.5 x 22 x 21cm, while a large 92mm fan should keep case noise down when coupled with the rubber dampers fitted to the tool less drive cage.

The XPC SD31P will be available in as little as two weeks and will be within a smidgen of £299 without VAT. Come on Shuttle, make an ugly system… I dare you!
