Voodoo Pins Hopes On DOLL

Just yesterday as Benny, our second roving reporter at CeBIT this year, was dishing the details on the thunderous Intel Xeon dual processor, nVidia SLI workstation on Boston’s stand, Voodoo was announcing its own AMD variant on the other side of the Atlantic.

The manufacturer, famed for its blazingly fast desktop and notebook systems, has produced the DOLL DCC, a powerhouse of a workstation featuring dual AMD 64bit Opteron processors and support for nVidia’s professional Quadro graphics cards. On top of that is dual Ethernet, wireless, RAID, 8x USB2.0 ports, six channel audio and incredibly it is smaller than a shoe box.

Of course the DOLL DCC is primarily designed for game development, CADD, professional animation and just about any application that requires aggressive CPU and graphics capability. That’s doesn’t mean it has to be a sober experience, however, so in true Voodoo-style it is available in a range of colours and custom tattoo designs that would possibly blind anyone over 60.

Price obviously depends on the chosen specification, but like all Voodoo machines it doesn’t come cheap beginning at 2,803 euros for the most basic setup and that doesn’t include a monitor. Still, you gotta love the idea of having a bright yellow, tattooed shoe box in your office and being able to say: “That’s the backbone of my entire network, that is!”
