Mighty midget!

This is a niche product - not everyone wants to spend £85 on a portable mono speaker. But as someone who travels a lot and likes to have a speaker for my laptop or iPod, this will be first item tossed into in my suitcase. It is well made and minimalist, as the TR review says. I have been using the battery operated Altec Lansing iM237 travel speaker (similar design to the minirig and half the size) for years, and while it works OK, this minirig is a whole different league of sound quality and astonishing sound volume (in Asia, where fans and aircon makes for high ambient noise, this will work a lot better than the Altec). It really is first class quality of build and sound, and for travellers, an excellent and lightweight, compact speaker to enhance your laptop, iPad or iPod. The Altec comes with a snug zip case, which is too small for the minirig. If this was supplied with case I would give a 10.
