It's nice to see Panasonic to not give up on Plasma - be it only for the sake of keeping competetive presssure up. However,
"Next it crucially does away with the 'air gap layer'..."
heavily reminds me of 2010 or 2011 when a Pansonic press release contained something like
"Older plasma's had a small air gap between the plasma panel (PDP) and the UV screen. To reduce unwanted reflections the UV filter is now bonded directly onto the PDP."
Dear TR, It would be nice to not only see tons of unreflected press releases cited here, but to spice them up with some insightful, ciritical information that surely is available among your excellent staff.
