HDMI data rates are measured in Gigabits per second not Megabits - so HDMI 1.4 is 10.2 Gb/s.

Not a bad price , i paid nearly that for my 60 inch pioneer kuro.
One big question i have no answer for , were will next gen console stand when 4k becomes the norm

They won't, neither can handle 4K gaming except for maybe some undemanding arcade titles such as Peggle or Bejeweled etc.

I suspect that the TVs will have to up-scale the image however from my research a lot of 1080p games up-scaled to 4K actually look worse.

However both support 4K media resolutions though, the Xbox One even comes with a 4K HDMi lead in the box. Not sure about the PS4's HDMI lead though.

Anyone know if there be display port on 2014 Panasonic plasmas?

Not sure there will be any 2014 plasmas yet. Panasonic is talking about binning them due to poor sales.
