This looks to be, unsurprisingly, an amazing TV. However it is also likely to be eye wateringly expensive, which is understandable for flagship cutting edge tech.

What would be very interesting from a reader's point of view would be if TR revisited some of the top of the range flagship TVs such as this one from the past few years and compare them to current mainstream models. A 10/10 from 2011 is probably not a 10/10 today after all.

The idea being to see whether the picture quality has trickled down to us mere mortals, how long it takes to do so, and if some features just never make it to the peons. It would certainly help with the decision about whether to stump up for the high end TVs or wait to get the features in a regular model a few years down the line.

Quality control will be the key. And I can't help thinking that, as with Samsung, the temptation to quietly lower standards to pass TVs that have less than perfect uniformity will be irresistible. Uniformity is still the big issue with current LCDs and no amount of clever processing will help a TV that has its LEDs slightly out of whack.
