LG were mucking about with edge-lit dimming two years ago and it was clear then that edge dimming simply doesn't work. It's a clever notion that doesn't work in practice. Strange that it's taken Panasonic so long to figure out!

I know Panasonic has once been a great player in electronics, but time has passed and many other great players have evolved. Panasonic should form a strategic alliance with LG or Samsung to improve on their quality tv sets.

In my opinion I think lg is always at the forefront making ways for other tv industries to copy.
