I don't get this. Surely the whole point of a soundbar is a self contained unit that unobtrusively sits under your flatscreen.
I understand that a subwoofer is unavoidable with wireless connections this is a non issue.
Once you start factoring in breakout boxes, and running cables to the soundbar I don't see the advantage over a regular wired system.
For this price you can get an entire Onkyo AVX 690 surround sound system. Setting aside the benefits of a proper AV receiver I'd be amazed if this soundbar sounded as good.
It just seems that this is a compromise too far.
any chance of you guys getting hold of a Philips HTS7111/12 for review any time soon?
The reason I love that box is because of the connection options, I have a samsung sound bar with only a optical and regular aux inputs, and with my tv only having coaxial output with having a media player, cable box and xbox, I cannot hookup all three to the sound bar, so with this philips sound bar+box, it has hdmi connections where it can connect to the tv hdmi output enabling me to easily switch and connect between all my device very easily.
The wireless subwoofer is bonus as well, as I have a kitten and he loves those skinny subwoofer cables haha.
