Now this might not be fair coming from commenting on the apple pro review, but how does this not get a 10? God, I wish I could afford it - never having to iron again (non iron shirt ftw!) would a dream come true.

I'd be interested to see a price comparision of different washing machines showing total cost + running cost over a number of years, depending how long you would expect a washing machine to last on average (ten years? - calgon excluded). Just interested to know if running costs should matter when deciding on what to buy.

this machine is entirely let down by a tiny, sensitive filter. its a 10kg expensive machine targeted at families and it will not run with the slightest fluff in the filter, (recommended to be checked and emptied every few months - try days!) and every malfunction we have ever had is to do with someone leaving a penny in their pocket and stressing out the small plastic filter. it also demands the filter be immediately cleared - in the middle of a cycle or not - when 'blocked', and if there's water in the machine well you just have to mop it all up as it runs out of the machine - the filter is at floor level and pretty hard to get a bucket under. who designed this???!!! We got a free replacement after a year, but the new one is just as bad and now costing us money. Never had our old dinosaur break down like this temperamental genius. We regret spending the money. We are a big family and yes we make it work hard but its supposed to be up to it.

I'm having exactly the same problem as you and it is doing my nut in!!! The whole of the contents of the machine is on my kitchen floor. Even one of the engineers that attempted my property asked me to look for the Model number and the serial number and trod on my foot!!! How rude!!! Worst 500 quid I have ever spent!!! Only 2 years and 9 months old!!! I called Panasonic 31st Oct 2014 said they were going to get a report hey I'm still waiting....
