The image quality tools supplied with 3DMark03 are vastly superior to those from 3DMark 2001. To begin with, itâ€™s possible to specify precisely which frame is captured for all game tests. Post processing effects which are disabled for the benchmarking (but enabled in the demo) can also be enabled here, as can effects such as anti-aliasing and anisotropic, bi-linear or tri-linear filtering.
Thereâ€™s also a texture filtering tool included which is a useful way to examine the quality of the texture filtering being applied by your hardware.
With the parameters set you see a tunnel with a black and white texture applied to its surface. Itâ€™s then possible to specify various settings and have the varying MIP Map levels displayed as bands of different colours. You can also rotate the tunnel and do lots of other useful things that help verify filtering quality.
