1st Place: Dell 2330dnIt might look a bit like a tank, but mono laser printers are rarely about outer beauty, rather the speed and quality of their print. Here the 2330dn excels, generating outstanding quality prints at very high speeds. Its built-in duplexer is equally quick, so you needn't sacrifice speed to save paper. This speed and high quality print is allied to decent running costs and an affordable overall price, leaving it with few peers in the mid-range market.

2nd Place: Brother DCP-9045CDNBrother is a name synonymous with printing in general, but especially laser printers. This multi-function colour laser has a number of great features, including duplex printing and scanning and PIN controlled walk-up printing via a easy to access USB port. It's not as quick as the Dell, hence why it hasn't won, but as a workgroup printer that can do everything a busy office needs, it's a great choice.

3rd Place: Samsung SCX-4600A £100 laser printer may not sound exciting, but the Samsung SCX-4600 is simply outstanding value. Not only is it a great mono laser printer, producing excellent quality prints at a decent speed, there's a large flatbed scanner up top as well. Anyone in need of a cheap, fast printer for a home office ought to look very closely at the Samsung.
