1st Place: Canon PIXMA MP540Canon can always be relied upon to produce a great entry-level inkjet printer and it proved its credentials once again with the MP540. It may lack some high-end features, such as wireless or wired networking or CD/DVD printing, but this five-ink printer costs just £75. For that money you do get a 48mm colour LCD display on which you can preview photos before printing, while the results are up to Canon's incredibly high standards. Better still, it produces these prints very quickly for such a cheap machine.

2nd Place: Epson Stylus SX515WIn a similar vain to the the Canon, the Epson is another affordable inkjet printer. It's well featured, too, offering wireless networking, memory card readers and a handy colour LCD display. It's also a damn fast machine, though its print quality isn't quite up to the standard of the Canon.

3rd Place: HP Officejet Pro 8000Time was when office printers were always lasers. However that's not the case these days and the Officejet Pro is one of the best inkjet office printers around. It produces near-laser quality text and graphics and far-better-than-laser quality photos at similar speeds, while costing a fraction of the price and being cheaper to run, too.
