The Rugby World Cup hath arrived! Big, cauliflower-eared men attempt to jut their brows forward further than their counterparts in an epic, bone-crunching game of Chase The Egg.

There will be blood. But first, there should be downloading of apps aplenty.

Official Rugby World Cup 2015 App

Free (iOS, Android)

This is the one and only official app for the Rugby World Cup. That means it's crammed to the ball-seams with all the latest news and scores from the 2015 tournament. Tell it which team you're following and it'll give you tailored info each day. When you're bored, you can test your rugger knowledge using the trivia game -- hope you've been swotting up.

ITV Rugby World Cup 2015

Free (iOS, Android)

ITV's super streaming video app features highlights of every single game, as well as a load of news and stats. There's even a nice finger-flicking kicking game included. But obviously the best reason to have it is live streaming of the matches.

World Rugby Laws of Rugby 2015

Free (iOS)

So you know what a try is? A penalty kick? And Jonny Wilkinson ensured that we've all seen a drop goal -- ah, the taste of 2003's victory still lingers (or the smell, if you're an Aussie). But how about lineouts and scrums? Sure, you might know one if you saw one, but if you're confused about why the big chaps are thrusting the little fella up to catch the funny egg thing, this app is for you. Once you know the rules, sport is so much more fun.

Rugby Manager

Free (iOS, Android)

"There's only one Clive Woodward!" That's the level of adulation you'll achieve from your virtual fans once you've led your team to glory by proving that you know rugby tactics better than these overpaid charlatans running national teams. You'll have to build a stadium first, though. Might take a while to get that knighthood...

Rugby Kicks 2

Free (iOS, Android)

If you think the kickers are the true heroes of rugby... Well, you might be better off with football, to be honest. But rugby-diehard kicking fans could do worse than download this flicktastic foot-to-ballathon. Beat the clock, counter the wind and generally wear your meaty digit down to the nub in the pursuit of egg-launching perfection. Also worth trying out the similar Flick Kick Rugby Kickoff app.

Rugby Nations 15

£3.99 (iOS, Android)

Looking for a more well-rounded rugger game experience? This is as close to FIFA for rugby as you'll find. A word of warning: you need an IQ that reads like a phone number to remember all the controls. We're still button bashing our way through.

Ultimate Rugby

Free (iOS, Android)

Ultimate Rugby is a comprehensive, nicely designed app that helps you follow your favourite teams, whether that be England, the Argentine under-20s or the Kazakhstan women's team. You'll find a lot more news and info about some than others, though...
