Blocks modular smartwatch hits Kickstarter, passes funding goal within hours

The long-touted Blocks modular smartwatch has finally arrived on Kickstarter, with the London-based start-up obliterating its $250,000 funding goal within hours.

The device, which features a Core watch face combined with other modules integrated through custom strap links, made waves when it was first previewed at CES in January.

Those extra modules include an additional battery, haptic feedback, a SIM-card, a fingerprint sensor, gesture control, a camera module, as well of GPS and NFC, a heart rate monitor and an air quality sensor.

For $195 (about £127) backers can get the Core face and strap, which offers most of the features of an existing smartwatch. From $250 (£163) users can three additional modules, while the price goes up for each additional module.

Naturally, you’ll be able to pair the Blocks smartwatch with iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth, while the Core also offers Wi-Fi functionality.

Now the crowdfunding project is live over 1,200 backers have helped the company comfortably surpass its $250,000 goal.

With more than 37-days still left, the total stands at more $353,000 at the time of writing on Tuesday.
