News phones of 2012 - Samsung and Sony

Two of the most important names for this year are Samsung and Sony. Samsung has only officially launched three niche and mid-range models this year, though. It's most eagerly-awaited arrival, the Samsung Galaxy S3, is expected to launch later this year. In the meantime we have the Galaxy Mini 2 and Galaxy Ace 2 phones for budget-conscious buyers and the Samsung Galaxy Beam. It features an inbuilt projector. Innovation or Insanity? What do you think?

Sony's showing is particularly important because it's the electronics veteran's first year in the spotlight detached from the Sony Ericsson brand. Sony Ericsson is no more, but the Xperia brand is going strong with three new attractive phones on show - the Xperia S, Xperia U and Xperia P.
