On then to our prize winners for this month, two of whom are also first-time entrants. Coming in a close but equal second is this fantastic ultra-close-up shot of a smaller specimen of urban wildlife from Csaba Meszaros of Leamington Spa, UK. Unfortunately I have no idea what sort of camera was used to take this, but it is clearly one with a very good macro facility. This is one of the best macro shots I've ever seen, and wins Csaba a 1GB PNY CompactFlash card and £25 Photobox voucher.
When I decided on the theme of Urban Wildlife, I was expecting to see quite a few photos of foxes, but in fact we received only one. Fortunately it is a really good one, and wins a 1GB PNY CompactFlash card and a £25 Photobox voucher for another first-time entrant, Michelle White of Fremont, Ohio. Michelle used her Olympus E-500 with a 50-200mm lens, and an exposure of f/3.5 and 1/80th of a second. The photo was shot at a wildlife rescue centre, where the fox had been taken after being saved from criminals trying to sell it as a pet. Sometimes I hate humans.
Our final photo, and winner of our first prize, is not only a fantastic photograph, but it is also totally appropriate. Way back in June last year our very first prize winner was Chris Mole of West Sussex, UK. He has entered a terrific photo for nearly every month's competition since then, and has been a runner-up many times. Although his past entries had no effect on this result, it's with very great pleasure that I name Chris as the winner of this month's competition, with this beautiful shot of two peacocks which appeared on the roof of his neighbour's house. Chris wins a £50 Photobox voucher, a 2GB PNY CompactFlash card, and of course the top prize of a Fujifilm FinePix S9600 camera.
Congratulations then to Chris, Rolfe and Csaba, and many thanks to all our runners-up, and also to everyone else who has entered, both this month and over the previous eleven months. Special thanks as well to our prize sponsors PNY, Photobox and Fujifilm, wthout whom this would not have been possible. It's been a lot of fun, and I hope you've enjoyed it too.
In fact it's been so much fun we're going to do it again, with a new look, some new prizes and a whole load of new themes to test your photographic skill and ingenuity. Keep visiting TrustedReviews for more news, but keep your camera handy, because it will be very soon!
