Judging by the number of entries, our technique-based theme for September, “Flash Photography” was a little more challenging than the previous month, but the standard of the entries once again proves that our readers love a challenge. The September competition is now closed. I’ll be posting the results next week after we’d had a chance to review them all, but in the meantime it’s time to post the theme and entry rules for October.
In case you haven’t seen our competition before, here’s a quick recap of the details and the prizes on offer. Each month we’ll provide a theme for your photographs and a closing date, and your task is to go out and take photographs that match that theme, and send them to us before the deadline. At the end of the month myself and the rest of the TR editorial team – most of whom are keen photographers - will study the entries and pick the winners based on our judgement. The best entries will be shown on the site at the end of the month.
As before there will be three prize winners each month, and thanks to our new sponsors we’ve got some fantastic prizes up for grabs.
We’ve got some great prizes this month from Samsung. The two runners-up will each receive a superb NV9 compact camera. It features a 5x zoom internal lens with optical image stabilisation, a 2.7-inch 230k LCD monitor and a built-in MP3 and media player. It has a wide range of easy-to-use automatic features to ensure top-quality photos, including face detection, blink detection and smile detection, automatic red-eye fix and contrast balance, and has a Beauty Shot mode that automatically re-touches portrait shots to improve skin tone. It also features unique analogue dials on the top plate indicating camera status. The NV9 normally retails at around £180.
Our first prize winner this month will receive the fantastic Samsung GX-20 digital SLR complete with 18-55mm lens.
