Digital Photography Competition – Round Four

October's photo competition theme was "Lines and Circles", a deliberately abstract theme to give your imagination a bit of exercise. It seems to have worked, because the standard of the entries has been higher than ever, with dozens of stunning photos exploring the theme from all possible angles, from the literal to the positively surreal. It's going to take us a few days to sift through the entries and pick out the winners and runners-up, but in the meantime here's our competition for November.

In case you haven't seen our photography competition before, here's a quick recap of the details and the prizes on offer. Each month we provide a theme for your photographs and a closing date, and it is your task to go out and take photographs that match that theme, and then send them to us before the deadline. At the end of the month myself and the rest of the TR editorial team - most of whom are keen photographers - will study the entries and pick the winners based on our judgement. The best entries will be shown on the site at the end of the month.

As before there will be three prize winners each month, and thanks to our generous sponsors we've got some fantastic prizes for you.

The Prizes

In a change to the previously advertised prizes, for our first prize we are now offering one lucky entrant a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS4, the latest version of the multi-award-winning, industry standard image editing program. CS4 is the first version of Photoshop to incorporate GPU integration, so that super-fast graphics card you bought for playing games can now help speed up your photo editing! As well as this, the new version features an easy-to-use tabbed interface, a new adjustment panel for quick access to many commonly-used editing functions, and major improvements to many of the existing tools. Adobe Photoshop CS4 is currently selling for over £550.

Our second prize winner will recieve a copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2. Currently retailing at over £200, this Editor's Choice program is an essential tool for DLSR owners, with facilities for editing, adjusting and batch processing all types of images, including Raw files.

As well as these great prizes from Adobe, our top three entries will all receive a superb two-gigabyte SanDisk Extreme III high speed memory card in the format of their choice, as well as a top-quality SanDisk ImageMate 5-in-1 card reader. SanDisk memory cards come with a limited lifetime warranty, they are used and trusted by professional photographers all over the world and are renowned for their fantastic performance and reliability. The 5-in-1 card reader is a versatile gadget that is ideal for anyone who has to deal with multiple memory card formats. It handles CompactFlash, SD/MMC/SDHC, xD-Picture, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, and connects via USB 2.0 for high speed performance.
