Not surprisingly we received quite a few good photos of pets, including of course many of dogs, such as this humorous and nicely balanced picture from Simon Rodijk of Alicante in Spain. Simon took the photo on a Canon EOS 40D with an exposure of 1/160th of a second at f/5.6.
Another amusing dog photo was this one from Miguel Angel Cuesta, who is also from Spain, this time from the beautiful city of Zaragoza. "In this picture you can see two stone watchdogs working, and the boss." Miguel took the shot on his Canon PowerShot G9 compact, with an exposure of 1/160th of a second at f/5.6.
Given that the theme was "Animals at work", I was surprised that there weren't more photos of farm animals, but the ones that we did see were very good, especially this shot from regular entrant Steve Ayres of Shipley in West Yorkshire, UK. "I converted to mono leaving a few spots of colour and added an off-centre vignette. As the sheep were herded into a small, cramped pen the look on the face of the sheep looking at the camera certainly made it look as if they were all being put to work for and by us" says Steve. He took the photo on his Canon EOS 40D, with a 17-85mm lens and an exposure of 1/100th of a second at f/5.6.
