Colour Fringe Test Results High End

The images from left to right represent the wide colour fringe test output from the Canon PowerShot G5, Fujifilm FinePix S602 Pro Zoom, Nikon Coolpix 5400, Olympus Camedia C-5050 Zoom and Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V1.

Canon PowerShot G5

Again there was slight colour fringing at wide-angle but it was virtually non-existent at telephoto.

Fujifilm FinePix S602 Pro Zoom

Colour fringing was visible at wide-angle but virtually non-existent at telephoto – again good results considering the longer lens range.

Nikon Coolpix 5400

There was slight colour fringing at wide-angle, but virtually none at telephoto. It’s important to note the Coolpix 5400 has a much wider optical zoom range than its rivals, with an unusually wide end equivalent to 28mm. Wider lenses normally suffer from greater optical distortion, but the 5400 managed to maintain similar levels to its rivals which sport less wide lenses.

Olympus CAMEDIA C-5050 Zoom

Colour fringing was less of a problem than average at both extremes of the lens range.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V1

There was slight colour fringing at wide-angle but it was virtually non-existent at telephoto.
