Canon PowerShot A70

Macro close-up performance was above average, capturing a distance of 55mm measured across the frame. Using the wide-angle position on the lens resulted in slight barrelling, but little that you’d notice in natural shots.

Fujifilm FinePix A303 Zoom

Macro close-up performance was average, capturing a distance of 72mm measured across the frame. At its relatively modest closest focussing distance though, there’s little to no distortion to worry about.

Nikon Coolpix 3100

Macro performance was excellent, beating all its rivals to deliver an impressive 38mm across the frame. Thanks to a little zooming-in, there was also little distortion to speak of and a sharp result across the frame.

Olympus {mju} 300

Macro performance was below average, delivering 100mm across its frame. The upside to shooting at such modest distances though is virtually no distortion.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P72

Macro close-up performance was average, capturing a distance of 77mm measured across the frame. At its relatively modest closest focussing distance though, there’s little to no distortion to worry about.
