As with any photographic subject, it's always a good idea to look at the subject in a different way, something which Chris Mole of Danehill, West Sussex, UK, has repeatedly shown himself to be very good at. Chris was the winner of our June competition, and has been finalist both last month and this.
The rules of our competition specifically allow image editing, and this is what Nick Board of Reading, Berkshire, UK, has done. Fortunately rather than trying to cover up a bad photo with heavy editing, he's started out with a good photo of Exmoor, in my own home county of Devon.
If we had a runner-up prize this month then Rob Wood from Fitzroy, North Victoria, Australia would have won it with this superb early morning shot. He's taken the traditional theme of trees reflected in water and added an imaginative composition and careful exposure revealing the leaves suspended in the water in the foreground. This is another of my personal favourites.
