Evernote was one of the first applications to treat note taking as more than simple list making. It allows you to quickly take voice, text and image notes, but it’s the way that it then indexes them so you can search through them later that elevates it above the competition.

For example, if you use it to take a picture it uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to recognise text within the image. It then tags this onto the photo. As a result you can search through images of business cards or notes from a meeting just using simple text searches.

All data is automatically synced with the Evernote server so you can access them later via a PC’s web browser and you can naturally also group different pictures, lists and audio files into distinct notebooks.


Evernote has some great features that make it a powerful note-taking tool.
