iTunes link: FAAD – Free

FAAD is an acronym for Free App A Day and the service does what it says on the tin. Every day you open up the application and it’ll show you the currently available choice of free apps. All apps have previously been listed in the App Store as paid-for apps, so you really are getting something of a bargain.

Of course, not very app is actually worth downloading, but generally there are one or two a week that are worth a look, especially if you’re bored and just want a quick game to pass the time while waiting for a train or bus. Why offer apps for free? Well, the service is seen as a good way to promote applications and generate more long term interest in them.

Not all the apps are top quality, but as they’re all offered completely free, FAAD is worth browsing every few days.
