Samsung Galaxy S3: top Jelly Bean features in video

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a ridiculously feature-packed phone. It has more bells and whistles than an orchestra of buskers. You’ll need a while to get your head around them all.

To give you a head-start we’ve made a video demonstrating five of our favourites. Some have been available in the phone since it was launched, others added in more recent updates. To make sure you can do the whole lot of them, check that your Samsung Galaxy S3 is running the latest Jelly Bean version of the Android OS.

5. Motion control
You can use the internal accelerometer of the Samsung Galaxy S3 to control a load of functions. You can zoom in and out of photos and web pages by tilting the phone back and forward, and even take a screengrab by swiping your hand across the screen. To check them all out, head to the Motion submenu in Settings.

4. Block mode
This special mode stops your phone from ruining your life. You can set times during which only selected contacts will be able to bother you. We recommend setting it to start in the late evening and through til the morning so you definitely won’t be interrupted while sleeping.

3. Music Square
A nice little gimmick, this. Music Square analyses your music content and works out what sort of mood tracks exude. You then tap on a music square to get a playlist based on that mood.

2. Jelly Bean Easter Egg
Each version of Android features a fun little easter egg feature. In Jelly Bean, there’s an interactive screen of flickable beans to unlock. Watch the video to find out how to access it.

1. Video Multi-tasking

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has great video abilities. It can play all sorts of files, and lets you watch a movie while doing other things. Hit the right button in the player and a video overlay will appear over your home screen. You can keep it running while in apps too.
