Your review is spot on and full of good information. I brought this Onkyo AV receiver along with a 5.1 B&W speaker system featuring the CM10 as the front speakers. Before buying theTX-NR5010 I was considering using it only for movies and digital music and purchasing the Hegel Amplifier and pre-amp for music. But after listening to music through this unit in Pure Audio mode I don't think I need the Hegel amp. Sound is so good both for movies and music. I have the Hegel CDP2A CD player which gives music a great quality with the Onkyo and B&W CM10's. I listen to Rock, Blues and Jazz and this system is fantastic. It also improves the quality of the Blueray player which is a entry level Samsung. I am just getting the hang of all the features employed on theTX-NR5010 and looking forward to getting the best from it. Originally the company I brought this equipment from set it up for me and using the Audyssey MutiEQ XT32 room correction and speaker set-up was a first for me. I am considering purchasing the other speakers (height and width) to add to the 5.1 but will wait until movies are being made for the 9.1 sound format.
Thanks again for the review of the Onkyo TX-NR5010.

I purchased this receiver a year and a half ago. My house has become the weekend movie spot for all my friends. People actually invite themselves over - just a warning.
I also purchased the M-5010 2 channel amp and have all 11 speakers running. The sound comes from everywhere.
Music is also clear and precise. I can listen to it for hours. Its so good I play it way too loud for my wife.
I also recommend an AVS subwoofer. It adds bass like nothing else I have had.
