Hugo if you get an elmo live, can I come round to play as well? :-)
Hugo said on 27th November 2008
If someone buys me one I promise an (Elmo) live webcast.
Stelph said on 27th November 2008
Live elmo webcast! What a perfect way of getting through the recession.
Poor old woolworths

Trust me, after a week of Elmo (my sister has the dancing one) you'll be driven mad by its incessant babbling. And, whatever you do, don't feed it after midnight ;)
Andy said on 27th November 2008
Why, what happens? Does it turn into a werewolf or something? That would be swweeeet!
Ed said on 27th November 2008
Or get it wet, presumably?
Darfuria said on 27th November 2008
Oh God, Gremlins pangs. This does not bode well for a day of technical support.
Gordon said on 27th November 2008
@Andy - you do know a Celica is SUCH a hairdressers car? ;)
@Hugo - Elmo?! *words - for once - fail me* Though you are about 12 in all fairness...

Just ordered an Elmo online for £50. It is tries babbling to me after midnight, I'll probably try feeding it a kebab. Will that be covered by warranty?
All I want for christmas is a 10" netbook with 768 vertical resolution. Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer. Oh, and the cowon s9.

lol nice wishlist :D

Furby Elmo? Oh noes!

Oh dear, so many apple products, well only 3, but still! I suppose as it is a wish list money is no object :)
So, if money is no object, I'll have the £50,000 Nissan GT-R please. With 480BHP, 4WD, 193MPH, and in-car computer designed by Polyphony Digital no less!
Hugo said on 27th November 2008
Surely if you're after a GT-R you'd want the 520BHP V-Spec model? Although quoting BHP is a bit silly seeing as each car is different - clearly you need to ask Santa to cherry pick the best-tuned of all the cars made.
And a supply of spare gearboxes so you can use the launch control more than five times might be fun...

Well if anyone is interested in buying any Apple device, Black Friday tomorrow, and Monday 15% Vat.. hehe, so if you order Friday, the product does not get despatched until Monday, and your Invoice is billed on the day of Despatch, so you have a double saving. btw. I did ring to double check this. So fingers crossed Apple will be doing some nice discounts tomorrow.

Well let's see. I would love to get:
1. An imac would be really cool. Like Jay I want something that looks neat and tidy. Also I would love to try out Leopard since it's apparently superior to Vista. Which I'm stuck with right now. :(
2. I think the Zune 120 looks really nice, and it seems to be as good or better (per the reviews) as the ipod Classic. It looks really nice and has a ton of space (120 gigs). Also the huge screen (3.2 inches) was the clincher for me.
3. A Lenovo Thinkpad X301 or X200s would be awesome since I'm typing this on an old Vaio. It's slow as hell (like my internet). And the battery life is not that hot. And they're both slim and light it would be great to carry them around. Also this keyboard on here is not the greatest. It's thin and very springy.
4. This may be overkill for me but that's what great about Christmas lists!
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 looks to be awesome! I am itching for a digital camera and this looks to fit the bill nicely. I doubt I would buy it for myself given the price, but I wouldn't say no to someone if they gave it to me!
5. And last but certainly not least, faster internet. I am stuck on a 2mb plan and let me tell you, I don't get anywhere near that speed. One day I was donloading some drivers and my speed was, wait for it, 598 BYTES per second! I almost cry sometimes because it's so slow. But I won't get the faster internet until I find a job (been looking for months), then I'll get cable internet and probably get the 10mb plan. Then I'll be happy. But I can still wish for it.
Ardjuna said on 27th November 2008
@Omz: Just count your blessings mate, I was stuck on Dialup (yes, 56k max, 40ish average) for 90% of my LIFE; downloading a 100MB file would literally take DAYS.
Wackywavinginflateablearmflailingtubeman said on 27th November 2008
Strike two Ardjuna! It's Ohmz, not Omz.
You remember what the first strike was. :)
I had dialup for years because my Dad was too cheap to pay for anything else, but the inconvenience of not having the phone line free forced him to go just a wee bit higher. Sigh, I sometimes can't watch your videos because it's just so painful.
I also would like to add to my list an XBOX 360, so many killer titles out on it. Want to start expereincing XBOX Live, all my friends say it's awesome.
And a nice new shiny HDTV, but a small one since I have the smallest room in the house. Probably 37 or 40 inches would be all it could take. And probably LCD because I want to play games and use it as a huge PC monitor. A big plasma for when I eventually move out, so next year Santa...
Ardjuna said on 27th November 2008
@Ohmz: Oops, sorry. Ermmm, strike 1? Are you referring to the special edition Dell X360? ;)
And my condolences on having shared the trauma of dial-up. I know how you feel, brother =(

guess what i picked up at my local audio t store (which i could have sworn was never there everyday i ride past)
...
a pair of grado sr325i's. sadly my system is currently out of commission, and i forgot to pick up a mini jack adapter... but, my gosh, these things look gorgeous...
Riyad said on 27th November 2008
@Gordon - Elmo Live is, I'm afraid, awesome! In fact, if Hugo hadn't had him on his list, he may well have found his way onto mine. Of course I do have a three year old daughter to use as an excuse when I buy one :)
Wilfried said on 27th November 2008
@Hugo: Found you an Elmo Live on Play.com for a mere GBP55.00, check it out:

I have to agree with Hugo and Riyad. Elmo Live rocks!
Xiphias said on 28th November 2008
I'm surprised nobody's asked for a fast 100MB/s internet connection, that'd be pretty high up my list.
Also, if this is a wishlist I'd have gone for HP's Dreamcolour monitor rather than the cheaper LP2475w.
Ardjuna said on 2nd December 2008
@Xiphias: Yes, I was thinking of the DreamColour model... but then I'd have to buy an advanced security system to protect it against theft, and I'd never want anyone else to go near my computer again ;)

"For a start, it looks stunning, as our recent Awards attested (though many of you disagree). Indeed, I will take this opportunity to challenge anyone to name a better looking notebook."
I see your Apple Macbook and raise you a Vaio SR, or TT, or TZ, or Z. They all pretty much look amazing.
I do agree that the Macbook is another triumph of design for Apple. They've got a knack for it.
I'm now considering one over the M1330 . Although I must run Windows for school. But I am interested in Leopard so I'll Parallels it!
The Celica looks like a nice car. I'm kind of conservative, so I don't care much for flashy cars.
A big monitor to go with the Macbook, the new Cinema Display looks amazing! I could never afford it in the near future. So Santa bring it to me to go along with everything else.
And Arjduna, I thought about your punishment. You have to watch this without looking away or covering your ears http://tinyurl.com/6g6hzo
You'll be driven mad afterwards! I may seem cruel, but in reality it's just tough love.
Ardjuna said on 15th December 2008
@Wackywavingetc.etc.: You ARE cruel, Sir :) But I can take it. I've seen worse.
Ohmz said on 30th December 2008
Whoa name change, but I'm back!
I wanted to do an update since I got two things on my list. :D
First off the Zune 120. Amazing piece of kit (OMG, is that a British term?) First impressions were very good, not as nice looking as an iPod, but still good nonetheless.
Build quality is excellent and it feels really nice in the hand. Solid, the glass and aluminum are really nice. Only problem is the glossy black!!!!
The Zune pad is much better to use than the click wheel. It's super intuitive and very responsive. Navgation through the device though is a bit of a pain as it takes too many steps just to play a song. When you start the player you have to select music, than the song and then for some reason you have to press play??? I have no idea why you have to press play after selecting a track, one would think it would just start playing automatically. Kind of annoying. At least the menus are big and bold, really easy to see, and the screen lock feature is a nice addon.
The Wi-Fi is a complete GIMMICK. I have never used it and find it of no interest, Microsoft should have put in stereo bluetooth instead, and noise cancelling.
The screen is big, bright, and beautiful. A joy to use for browsing my music and watching videos; although the only videos I watch are podcasts, don't care much for having my DVDs on there. I'm a little disappointed that the resolution isn't higher. I guess I shouldn't have looked at that iPod Touch before I bought eh!? I was actually contemplating the Touch. but I only had about $300 to spend, so it was a 120GB player versus a 16GB player, hmm....
Don't regret my choice though, although there is one downside to the Zune and that is the sound quality. Now I am not an audiophile my any means and I don't pretend to be, but I can definitly tell the difference between my old Walkman (see: http://tinyurl.com/582p7f) and the Zune. The sound is a bit flat compared to the Walkman. But it will suffice. I'll trade some sound for the massive screen, storage capacity and some other features my old player didn't have.
But one thing about file format suport, turns out the Zune doesn't support Microsofts' own WMA Lossless! Amazing, all my music was ripped to that and then upon syncing, it converted to WMA. Well done Microsoft, well done, *rolls eyes*.
The FM tuner, I'm glad to have you back! Sometimes I just want to listen to the radio for varieties' sake.
Podcast integration is really great as it seperates between video and audio; although I wish I could see them all at a glance.
Now to the software, it's slow at times and buggy at times (maybe time to but a new PC?) But I find it excellent. It's simple to use and keeps everything nice and organized. I haven't checked out the social much because the Marketplace is not here in Canada still!!!!! Wtf Microsoft? Release the player but not the store for it? But it's coming soon, they promise, *rolls eyes again*.
All in all a great player, if not this, almost certainly this http://tinyurl.com/8zy2el. I miss the exceptional sound quality, I really do, but the features make up for it. A good buy for $250.
I hope you guys get it soon over there, it really is nice and a great competitor to the iPod. I am hoping for a TR review sometime next year okay?
P.S. Ardjuna, I'm sure you've seen worse, I've seen Tony Blair in action! ;)
P.S.S. Got faster Internet too!!! Dad finally realised it was cheaper to pay for a faster speed with a 60GB cap than a 2MB plan with a 20GB cap, go figure! Damn caps!
