9-cell MSI Wind Battery Pictured

In case you didn't already see it, we've only just reviewed the latest MSI Wind with a six-cell battery (see: MSI Wind U100-291UK), but now pictures of a hefty nine-cell battery have emerged via German website, Eee PC News.

Despite reports to the contrary, this isn't actually an official battery but one manufactured by battery specialists Mugen Power Batteries and as you can see from the pictures, it's bound to add a lot of weight. According to discussions with US distributors on the forums of MSIWind.net, this battery is expected to available in the US later this month for between $120 and $140.

The UK? Well, unsurprisingly, it's impossible to know at this point, but as soon as these become available there's bound to be some grey imports appearing on eBay and UK online retailers are bound to get in on the action as well. Knowing that the six-cell is good for around four and a half hours of battery life, we'd guess a nine-cell should reach in excess of six, though without more information this is little more than educated guesswork.
Will you be buying a nine-cell battery for your MSI Wind/MSI Wind lookalike? Let us know in comments.
