Acer Aspire One Shows Up Online

While the ever expanding Asus Eee PC line and the MSI Wind have undoubtedly taken most of the subnotebook headlines another significant player hit the market today: the Acer Aspire One.

We gave you our first impressions of the One back in early June and as of now T-Mobile Online in Austria has become the first retailer to put the device up for sale with immediate shipping. With a price of €329 (£260) it is the cheapest of the current generation, but that is for the 'A110L' - the lowest specified of the One variants while the zippier 'A150L' and 'A150X' have yet to be seen. Acer also promised us a £199 RRP so we wait to see how this plays out in the UK.
So what do you get for your money? As you might expect there's an Atom N270 CPU at its heart, 512B RAM, 8GB NAND flash storage, an 8.9in 1024 x 600 widescreen display, wireless b/g and 3x USB. It doesn't sound like a lot, but pick the Linpus Linux edition and you won't have a problem. Opt for XP on the other hand and the 1GB RAM and option of a 120GB HDD available in both the other editions may prove your better bet. Incidentally, weight is just 1Kg but you are looking at a Wind-esque 3 cell rather than Eee PC 901-ish 6 cell battery.
For the impetuous feel free to dive straight in, everyone else note we should be getting the One in soon so hold tight and let us bring you the definitive verdict...

Hi Luan Bach I agree 2 hours is pointless, a portable Netbook needs to offer at least 4 hours in my opinion. You can actually get a six cell battery for it, although I know that th... more
