Computex spilled many of the beans of the Atom-sporting Eee PC 901 and Eee PC 1000 but sadly omitted from those were the UK price and release date for the new versions. All comes to he who waits, though, and now one of those bits of info has been revealed: the Atom Eees will hit UK stores (both online and offline we presume) on the 1st of July.

While not as soon as many will want, it's definitely an improvement on the August time-frame of the Dell E, which should help Asus' sales. As you should know by now, the move to Atom is set to see both performance and operating time life improvements - the latter also helped by a new 6-cell battery.
The 901 still offers either 12GB of SSD storage with Windows, or 20GB with Linux, while the Eee PC 1000 will have either 40GB of SSD or an 80GB 1.8in hard drive. The SSD version is the more expensive of the two as might be expected, but with the benefit of being much more accommodating to rugged treatment.
The competition is hotting up…
