Dell's Inspiron 1525 managed to impress us when we looked at it a couple of weeks ago, due in part to its excellent value for money. Now Dell has attempted to add to that by offering the already inexpensive system with Blu-ray for what is a fairly reasonable premium.

The cheapest Blu-ray fitted notebook we've reviewed is the Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11L which still managed to push over £1,000 when specced up (although Sony has a cheaper version in the offering too). Dell is offering the Inspiron 1525 with Blu-ray from £729, although that is obviously the base-spec system. Given that sans Blu-ray the same system can be priced as low as £350-odd, it may not sound quite as good a deal, but obviously a certain level of hardware is needed to power high-definition playback.

You won't be getting the best experience with the 1,280 x 800 panel, although you could always hook the laptop up to a TV via the HDMI output. The aforementioned systems are available right away from Dell's website, so if you're interested then head over there now.
