To coin a phrase: another day another dollar Asus Eee PC SKU. If it isn't a new 8.9in version then it's systems with Windows XP pre-installed.

Of course there's nothing to stop any Eee PC purchaser installing Windows on their system anyway, but having the systems available pre-configured will likely tempt many daunted by the prospect of learning to use the Linux OS on the standard machine. It's interesting that XP is chosen, seeing as come the middle of this year you won't be able to buy that OS any more, but as anyone with enough sense to tie their own shoes can tell - Vista will never run on the low-end hardware inside the Eee.

Annoyingly no mention has been made of what the new Windows-fitted version of the Eee PC will cost when it ships, but expect a reasonable price hike over the Linux system, as a Windows License has to be paid for as well. Availability is also unknown, but systems should start popping up at your e-tailer of choice soon.
