We love the Asus Eee PC as the stonking 9/10 we bestowed upon it shows, but there's a lot more still to come.

In the briefest of teasers the Korean giant revealed on its site:

WiMAX Today. WiMAX Tomorrow: An Official ASUS/ Intel/ Sprint Joint Launch
Join ASUS, Intel and Sprint to learn about the state of WiMAX technology, preview next-generation mobile solutions (including the next generation Eee PC) and immerse yourself in tomorrow's wireless protocol

Now while info doesn't get much more sparse than this I think it's pretty safe to say that Asus is choosing to unveil its next gen Eee PC at the fancy-smancy WiMAX launch because the two are interrelated. As in: the new/revised Eee PC will have it.

Of course this all makes reasonable sense given the often lauded low roll out costs of WiMAX and the never-seen-before affordability and developing-country-friendliness of the Eee PC. It also suggests Intel, Sprint and Asus can do a large amount of back slapping by promoting the combo to these nations while showing just how fast, efficient and wallet friendly the pair can be.

Now the (ever present) sceptic in me senses that any new WiMAX outfitted Eee PC won't come to market for some time - the original is simply selling far too well, but let's not rain on this parade before its even started.

The launch itself kicks off on 7 January so stay tuned for the official song and dance to this formality...
