I had almost forgotten that Fujitsu Siemens made notebooks it has been so long since one has registered on my radar. So it is with some surprise that I view the announcement of the LifeBook S6510 because its foremost boasted feature, SlimEdge, is certainly worth a second glance.

What this means, in layman's terms, is that the S6510 packs an LED-backlit panel usually destined for a 14.1in notebook into a 13.3in notebooks chassis. While it may not sound that impressive, it does bring a few enhancements. First, the LifeBook is nice and slim, 34mm thin to be precise, and second, the resolution is higher than a standard 13.3 notebook, at 1,336 x 768 pixels (WXGA).

Specs are equally pleasing inside as well, with a 2.4GHz Core 2 T7700 processor sitting alongside an Intel Turbo Memory module and Draft-N wireless. Other features include a Trusted Platform Module and fingerprint reader for extra security. Fujitsu Siemens gives the weight of the S6510 as 1.7Kg, which while presumably sans-battery, isn't too bad at all. No pricing or availability info yet, so keep a look out if you're interested.
