I may have been initially sceptical about the EasyNote XS, questioning the appeal of the form factor and low-end components. However, having seen the similarly sized Asus EEE PC recently and becoming utterly enamoured with it I have to admit I'm now much more interested in the EasyNote's impending release. Of course another factor of my change of heart is the price at which the XS will launch, namely £349.

As mentioned previously, the XS boasts a 7in, 800 x 480 screen, 1.2GHz VIA C7-M processor and 1GB RAM. It also packs a 30GB hard drive integrated Wi-Fi and will run Window XP. Weighing in at 950g it's heavier for its size than, say, the super-light Toshiba R500 but should still pose light enough for day-to-day use.

The 3-hour battery life could pose a bit of a problem though, especially for business users who won't want to have to charge it at regular intervals. The XS will go on sale from next month at various Dixons Stores Group outlets and no doubt various other retailers soon after. If you like the look of the EEE PC but want a little bit more it could pose an attractive option.
